About Me

London, United Kingdom
This blog is neither trendy or exclusive. It is a record of the creative efforts made by two equally extravagant but ever so different sisters in their attempt to gather up the pieces of their relationship. So far this has included Tom&Jerry cakes, hand made skirts, late night phone calls, silhouette portraits, documenting scenic walks, hospital rooms and many, many illustrated letters. Like all things worthwhile this journey is undoubtedly going to be long. And loud. And colourful. And blissfully exhausting, but we hope that you'll come along, or at least watch from a distance as we serve up the fruits of our joys and frustrations each Sunday until death do us part. Or until we grow out of puberty and realize we were being irrational and really just want to be accountants.

Week 3

Hey there sweet things!
This week we've been sunning it up in lovely Aix en Provence and while we've been kept busy with croissants, our first pair of platform shoes and a couple of rowdy New Yorkers, we've also taken the time to put together this weeks little loves. Regallez vous!

A couple of weeks ago, during a cat nap on a sofa at work, I dreamt of a house. This house was by a river in a very, very big city and each window was slightly different from the other. It was where I got up every morning feeling calm but inspired and where I acted out much of my colourful and insignificant life. One day I will buy this house, but aspiring to a job in the creative industry comes hand in hand with the notion that I'll never actually have any money, so just in case 'Mr Hedge Fund Banker' doesn't come along, I've made myself a teeny tiny model. And all the necessary plans.

This week we love...

Caravan Palace- Self Titled

This band somehow manage to mix classic French big band music with dubstep, the result being the kind of music that goes hand in hand with gypsy weddings, derelict theatre costumes and more than a pinch of debauchery. Impossible to tire of.

Whip It- Drew Barrymore

Shy girl in hick town finds her place in oh so cool Roller Derby scene. Stupidly funny with a fair share of indie romance, this is our new favourite chick flick and made us want to be Biffles with Ellen Page.

Also...Ginny's flea market find. And the fact that you can still buy film for it.

Week 2

Hey there chickpeas! While the weather may be shit and there's definitely something depressing about wearing a Mac in June, we'd like to wish you happy holidays and a brilliant summer ahead. Slap on the SPF and bring on the sleazy hotels and package trips to Cyprus.

Despite the incredible embarrassment of being arse whipped by the Hamburger Nation, we decided to get our patriotism on and commemorate our great nation with some uber kitsch cross stitching. God save the Queen and all that malarky.

This week we love...

Sigh No More- Mumford&Sons

Oh aren't we just stereotypical doe-eyed tweens, but in our defence, these new age folk singers really are very romantic. And make you feel like everything's going to be ok. And yes, we know that they'll probably end up doing voices for Disney characters but we really just don't care.

Mickybo & Me- Terry Sloane

The Irish version of 'Stand by Me', 'Mickybo & Me' follows the adventures of an unlikely pair of friends as they escape the tensions of 1970s Northern Ireland and head to Australia to set themselves up as the new Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid. Hilarious and heartbreaking, it'll make you want to be a kid forever. And marry and Irishman.

Also... our homemade chocolate banoffee pie

Week 1

Ladies and jellybeans welcome to week one of the Pleasant Sunday Afternoon Association. In celebration of our founding member's release from the nut house, we would like to bestow upon you the gems of our boredom. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Boomshanka.

This here is our very own Hansel&Gretel house. It was made with 39p biscuits, dolly mixture and shit loads of icing. Happy Birthday to a very special lady.

This week we love...

Kings & Queens- Jamie T

Not only do we love the album cover but the music inside brings out your inner Vinnie Jones and makes you want to be the shit out of everyone. And yes, even if you are 14 and living in the suburbs.

Les triplettes de Belleville- Sylvain Chomet

An incredibly witty animation which is visually both beautiful and grotesque in the way only a French film could be.
Personal favourites include the gigantic boats and the use of hand grenades to fish for frogs.
Brilliant.

Also... jumbo prawns covered in lemon juice and cracked pepper.
